Nadia Valentine is an Illinois native who moved to Des Moines to attend Drake University. She originally planned to become a writer but quickly latched on to the idea of telling stories rather than writing them. She received her degree in Broadcast News with a minor in Sociology. Nadia believes in the power of storytelling and bringing the experiences of historically silenced individuals to the forefront. Her studies in sociology piqued her interest in criminal justice reform, unconscious biases in law enforcement, and disproportionate incarceration rates among people of color. Nadia is driven to improve her community. She serves on the Board of Directors for Girls Rock! Des Moines, a local non-profit. She is also an advocate for rescue animals and has two 85-pound rescue dogs of her own. Nadia is an avid football fan and kickboxing instructor.
